US President Donald Trump announced a trade deal with India late on Monday night, reducing tariffs on Indian goods to 18 percent. The prices of gold and silver have also increased rapidly.
Meanwhile, the Indian rupee has also strengthened significantly, trading near 90 against the US dollar. On Tuesday, the Indian rupee opened at 90.39 against the US dollar, an increase of 112 paise from Monday’s closing rate of 91.51. The announcement of India-US trade agreement has brought positivity in the currency market. This is considered to be the biggest one-day gain for the rupee, and it is expected that the rupee will strengthen further.
There was an increase in the rupee on Monday also
On Monday, the rupee closed at 91.51 (provisional) against the US dollar, up by 42 paise, suggesting that the bottom for the rupee and the market was probably reached on Monday itself. After today’s rally, the rupee’s year-to-date losses have narrowed. The Indian currency has fallen just 0.56% in 2026 and has registered a decline of 4.55% in the last one year.
Tremendous rise in stock market
Along with the tremendous rise in the Indian Rupee, the stock market has also seen tremendous growth. On Tuesday, the Sensex rose 2375.07 points or 2.91% to 84,041.53, while the NSE Nifty rose 723 points or 2.88% to 25,811.40. Nifty Bank also saw a rise of more than 1300 points.
All the top 30 stocks of BSE are trading with good gains. Adani Ports shares have risen 7 percent, making the stock trade above Rs 1500. After this, shares of companies like IndiGo, Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv and Sun Pharma have seen strong gains.
Rise in gold and silver prices
In the commodity market, the prices of gold and silver have also increased significantly. Gold price increased by ₹5,000 and is trading above ₹1.49 lakh. Silver prices remain above ₹2.52 lakh, up by ₹16,000. Apart from this, good growth has also been seen in copper and other metals.
