Shiv Nadar becomes the biggest donor of 2025
According to the Hurun Philanthropy List 2025, 80-year-old Shiv Nadar has won the title of the country’s biggest donor by donating ₹2708 crore in 2025. He has topped the list four times out of five consecutive years. At second place was the Mukesh Ambani family, which donated ₹626 crore and the Bajaj family donated ₹446 crore.

HCL started from a garage
Shiv Nadar’s story is a testament to how things started with true hard work and determination can create history. In 1976, Shiv Nadar, along with five of his friends, started HCL from a small garage. At that time, the company manufactured calculators and microprocessors. Today, the same company operates in 60 countries around the world and employs more than 2,23,000 people.

Daughter Roshni Nadar is now taking charge
In 2020, Shiv Nadar resigned as Chairman of HCL Technologies and now his daughter Roshni Nadar Malhotra is leading the company. But like her father, she also considers social service as her priority.
