The Central Government has made a very important and historic announcement for more than 7 crore PF (Provident Fund) account holders of the country. Now you will not have to wait for weeks or do any cumbersome paperwork to withdraw advance or full amount from your PF account. According to Union Labor Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, EPFO has successfully completed the testing phase of withdrawing PF funds through UPI (Unified Payments Interface). Now, with just a few clicks on your mobile phone, your money will be transferred directly to your bank account. Let us see how this new service will work and what are its rules.
No more hassle of filling claims and forms; The amount will come directly through the mobile app
Currently, to withdraw PF funds one has to fill an online claim form – this process often takes several days and only then the amount is credited to the bank account. Once the new UPI system is implemented, this wait of weeks will now be a thing of the past. You’ll be able to send a withdrawal request straight from your smartphone and get the money in your linked bank account within seconds.
Know how this new PF-UPI service will work
According to reports, this facility will be very secure. Account holders will be able to transfer their PF balance directly to their bank account using their registered UPI PIN. Keeping in mind both security and future savings, a certain portion of the PF account balance will remain frozen or locked, while a large portion of the remaining balance can be withdrawn instantly through UPI in case of any emergency.
A big lifeline for 7 crore salaried people in times of crisis
This service is going to prove to be a game-changer in times of any sudden financial crisis – such as medical emergency, children’s education or marriage. EPFO is currently working on improving its technical system and software, so that when millions of people use this service simultaneously, there is no problem like transaction failure.
EPFO services will also be available on WhatsApp from June!
EPFO is not limited to just UPI; For the convenience of its subscribers, it is all set to launch its services on WhatsApp also from June 2026. Through this initiative, account holders will be able to check their PF balance, view their last five transactions (mini statement) and other important information from the comfort of their home – just by chatting on their mobile phone.
Key points to keep in mind to avail this facility
To avail this super fast service, your PF account must be completely updated. Make sure that your UAN (Universal Account Number) is linked to your current mobile number and your bank account. Additionally, to make the verification process simple and seamless, it is important to link your bank account number to your UPI ID.
