According to the RBI, this arrangement was made at the request of the central government to ensure that all payment-related transactions relating to the financial year 2025-26 can be completed on its last day, March 31. However, banks will not provide services to the general public or conduct direct transactions with customers on this special day. LIC has decided that, since it is the last day of the financial year, its branches will remain open on Mahavir Jayanti also.
