A day earlier, on March 6, the price of gold had fallen by Rs 1,100, or about one per cent, to Rs 1,64,100 per 10 grams in the Delhi bullion market. This happened due to profit booking by traders for the second consecutive day. However, rising geopolitical tensions in the Middle East increased demand for safe-haven assets overseas. In international markets, spot gold rose $14.70 or 0.29 percent to $5,095.81 an ounce.
