Due to increase in crude oil prices, increase in bond yields and uncertainty regarding the US-Iran agreement, the prices of these precious metals are currently witnessing fluctuations. Moreover, the import duty on these metals has been increased from 6% to 15%, which is a factor which is also affecting their market rates. Another reason for the shine of silver is that many categories of this metal have been removed from the ‘free’ import list and put in the ‘restricted’ category. This means that different types of silver can no longer be imported without prior permission from the government.
