A day earlier, gold prices had risen by ₹900 or 0.54 per cent to ₹1,65,600 per 10 gram in the Delhi bullion market. Amid rising geopolitical tensions, new demand for gold as a safe-haven asset supported prices. Spot gold is trading at $5,189.05 per ounce in the international market.

In January this year, the price of silver crossed ₹4 lakh.
