In India, LPG prices are set by government oil marketing companies and are changed every month. Today, June 19, the price of a 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder is ₹942.00 in Delhi and ₹941.50 in Mumbai. Similarly, the prices of 19 kg commercial cylinder in these cities are ₹3,113.50 and ₹3,067.50 respectively.
City Domestic Cylinder Price Commercial Cylinder Price Delhi Rs 942.0 Rs 3113.5 Mumbai Rs 941.5 Rs 3067.5 Kolkata Rs 968.0 Rs 3256.0 Chennai Rs 957.5 Rs 3283.0 Bengaluru Rs 944.5 Rs 3198.0 Ahmedabad Rs 949.0 Rs 3133.0 Lucknow 979.5 Rs 3236.0 Rs Bhubaneswar Rs 968.0 Rs 3290.5 Patna Rs 1031.5 Rs 3400.5
**When will the prices go down?**
Government oil companies had recently increased the prices of domestic LPG cylinders by ₹29 on June 7. Earlier, the prices were increased by ₹60 in March. Similarly, commercial cylinder prices had seen a massive hike of ₹993 in May, which was followed by a hike of ₹42 on June 1. Obviously, this has had a huge impact on the budgets of consumers across the country. Meanwhile, after the peace agreement between Iran and America and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, people are expecting a reduction in the prices of gas cylinders. However, prices are unlikely to get immediate relief.
**Oil companies suffered losses**
The Petroleum Ministry has already said that domestic LPG prices are kept much below the actual market cost. The total cost of LPG, including import, refilling and delivery to homes, is around ₹1,600 per cylinder; However, oil companies sell it to common consumers at ₹942, resulting in a loss of ₹700 per cylinder. It may take time to compensate for this loss. Due to the recent fall in crude oil prices, the price cut is likely to be announced after the review meeting to be held on July 1.
