If you use LPG gas cylinder at home, then this news is important for you. Recently many new rules related to gas connection and cylinder distribution have been implemented. Their objective is to stop fake connections, black marketing and duplicate customers. If these rules are not followed, there may be difficulty in booking gas or taking delivery of the cylinder.
7 important rules of LPG-
1. OTP Verification
Now OTP verification is mandatory at the time of delivery of gas cylinder. After booking the cylinder, an OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number. You will get the cylinder only after telling this OTP to the delivery person. Its purpose is to ensure that the cylinder reaches the right customer.
2. e-KYC and biometric updates
The government and oil companies are asking customers to complete their e-KYC. Biometric verification is also being done in many areas. If your KYC is not updated, you may face problems in getting gas services in future.
3. Mobile number update
Your mobile number should be updated in the records of the gas agency. OTP, booking message and other important information are sent to this number. If your number has changed, get it updated with the agency as soon as possible.
4. No second booking (urban areas)
Under the new rules, second LPG booking cannot be done within 25 days of receiving the cylinder in urban areas. Its objective is to ensure gas distribution based on actual needs.
5. 45 day rule for villages
In rural areas, there must be a gap of 45 days between cylinder bookings. This helps in preventing fake booking and black marketing of gas.
6. Monitoring of subsidy for PNG
In areas where Piped Natural Gas (PNG) facilities are available, norms related to LPG subsidy and connections are being monitored and tightened. The aim of the government is to prevent misuse of both the facilities.
7. Checking multiple connections to one address
Oil companies are now investigating cases where there are multiple LPG connections at the same address. If any connection is found to be fake or violates the rules, action can be taken.
What are the benefits of these rules?
With these new rules, genuine customers will be able to get gas cylinders on time. Also, these will prevent fake connections, duplicate customers and black marketing. This will make the gas distribution system more transparent and safe.
