Employees whose annual salary is more than five lakh rupees and who have submitted their savings documents in their institute and want to file ITR without Form 16, may have difficulty in filing ITR without Form 16. In such a situation, your salary will be seen on the income tax website on putting a PAN card, but the tax will also be seen on your name, which was not visible while submitting savings documents in the institute. In such a situation, you have to take Form 16 from the institute.
If your salary is less than five lakh rupees, then you do not need Form 16 to file ITR. You can also file ITR online on the website of Income Tax Department without this.
What is Form 16 and why is it necessary?
Form 16 is a document issued by the company to the employee, which contains details of your annual salary, allowances and deducted taxes. Also, your savings (80C, 80D) are also detected. Many companies deduct tax from salary every month. All these details are in Form 16. The form can be returned by cutting the form 16. Even if Form 16 is not available, returns can be filed on the basis of alternative documents.
