Banks across the country will remain closed for a total of 12 days in July this year. It includes four Sundays, two Saturdays and six holidays of local festivals celebrated in different states. However, July is one of the months with fewer bank holidays.
**Banks will remain closed across the country on two Saturdays**
In July 2026, all banks across the country will remain closed on July 5, 12, 19 and 26, as these dates fall on Sundays. Apart from this, banks across the country will also remain closed on July 11 (second Saturday) and July 25 (fourth Saturday).
**Banks will remain closed due to state-specific festivals**
1. Apart from these regular holidays, banks will also remain closed on local festivals and special occasions in different states. There will be a bank holiday in Mizoram on 6th July on the occasion of ‘MHIP Day’. The day is celebrated to commemorate the establishment of Mizoram’s largest women’s organization, Mizo Hamiche Insuikhkhavam Paul (MHIP).
2. On July 9, all banks in Meghalaya will remain closed for ‘Beh Deinkhlam’, a traditional religious and cultural festival. This festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm, especially by the Jaintia (Panar) tribe.
3. There will be a bank holiday in three states on July 16 due to different festivals. Banks will remain closed for the famous ‘Rath Yatra’ in Odisha, ‘Harela’ festival in Uttarakhand (which is associated with greenery and environment) and ‘Kang’ festival in Manipur.
4. Banks will remain closed in Meghalaya on July 17, the death anniversary of great freedom fighter U Tirot Singh. At the same time, there will be a bank holiday in Sikkim on July 18 for ‘Drukpa Tshe-Zhi’, an important Buddhist festival.
5. The last local holiday of the month will be in Tripura on July 22, where all banks will remain closed for the traditional ‘Kharchi Puja’. It is considered a major religious festival of Hindus and tribals in the state. 6. During bank holidays, digital services like internet banking, mobile banking, UPI and ATM will be available as usual. Therefore, customers are advised to settle important branch related work well in advance to avoid any hassles during the holidays.
