LPG Price Hike: Commercial gas becomes costlier by Rs 993, Akhilesh Yadav said - BJP did a big 'favour'

There has been a huge increase in the prices of LPG gas cylinders across the country. In India, prices of commercial LPG cylinders (19 kg) and 5-kg LPG cylinders have increased. From May 1, 2026, the price of commercial LPG cylinder has been increased by ₹993, while the price of 5-kg cylinder has increased by ₹261. Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav has given his reaction on this increase in LPG cylinder prices. SP chief Akhilesh raised the question, “Who are these BJP people doing a favor by reducing the price by just ₹7?”

It is worth noting that on Friday, state-run oil companies increased the price of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder by ₹993. The reason for this increase is the rising prices of energy in the international market. As a result, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has increased to ₹3,071.50 in the national capital. In a statement, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) clarified that there is no change in prices for the 330 million domestic LPG consumers across the country. This is the third increase in the prices of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders since the conflict between the US, Israel and Iran began on February 28. The first increase—of about ₹115—occurred in early March, followed by another increase of about ₹200 on April 1.
