Now ordering food from Zometo will be expensive, food delivery fees increased so much due to LPG Crisis

Ordering food online has become more expensive now. Zomato has increased its platform fees for food delivery. According to media reports, the company has increased the platform fee per order from ₹12.5 to ₹14.9; This means that customers will now have to pay more for each order than before.

Why were the fees increased?
This increase is approximately 19.2%. This will have a direct impact on customers’ bills. It is being told that this decision has been taken due to the rising prices of crude oil and shortage of LPG. Due to these reasons, the cost of delivery partners increases and the functioning of the restaurants connected to the platform is also affected.

What will be the impact on users?
Now you will have to pay a little more for each order, which will increase your total bill. In other words, ordering food from the comfort of your home may now be a little more expensive than before.

Fees were also increased in September 2025
Earlier, the last increase in platform fees was due in September 2025. Meanwhile, Swiggy is currently charging around ₹14.99 per order. On March 20, the company’s shares closed at ₹233, up nearly 2%. JM Financial says the recent decline in share prices is due to leadership changes within the company and increasing competition in the quick commerce sector. Subsequently, new competition in the food delivery sector—as well as global factors (such as AI-related developments and tensions in the Middle East)—further increased this pressure. However, the company hopes that when the global situation becomes normal, the situation will stabilize.

LPG supply problems have affected restaurants.
Meanwhile, according to Kotak Securities, disruptions in LPG supply have had a negative impact on restaurants, which may lead to a decline in food delivery orders. However, the cost of delivery has remained stable so far. The report also says that due to these supply-related problems, Swiggy may face a bigger blow than its competitors.
