New Delhi: The number of stores of British coffee chain brand Costa Coffee in India has decreased by 22 to 198 in the last financial year 2025-26. In the previous financial year, the company had 220 outlets across the country. This is the first time in five years that the number of Costa Coffee stores in India has declined. Devyani International Ltd. is the exclusive franchise partner of Costa Coffee. This information has been found in the latest annual report of (DIL). Costa Coffee is owned by global soft drinks company ‘The Coca Cola Company’.
However, despite the decrease in the number of stores, the company’s revenue has increased in the last financial year. Costa Coffee’s revenue in India grew by seven percent to Rs 212.5 crore in financial year 2025-26, compared to Rs 198.5 crore in 2024-25. This shows that the company is now focusing on higher sales per outlet and better performance rather than just expanding stores.
The company has said in its annual report that it is adopting a more disciplined and selective strategy to expand its portfolio. Costa Coffee had expanded rapidly in India from FY 2020-21. At that time the company had only 44 stores, which was to increase to 55 in 2021-22, 112 in 2022-23, 179 in 2023-24 and 220 in 2024-25. But in the financial year 2025-26, the number of stores decreased to 198.
Costa Coffee’s global chief executive officer (CEO) Philippe Chailley had said in April 2025 that India was among the company’s top 20 markets and could be among the top five markets in the coming years.
