**How much loss are the oil companies incurring?**
Indian oil marketing companies are facing huge losses due to selling petrol, diesel and domestic LPG at prices below their actual cost. Overall, they are incurring a loss of around ₹1,380 crore per day. However, after the recent price hike of ₹3 per litre, the companies’ net daily loss has come down to around ₹750 crore. Apart from this, a look at the LPG figures shows that the companies are also incurring huge losses on cooking gas. According to HPCL, companies are currently incurring a loss of ₹670 on every 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder sold.
