Fuel Price Today: Oil companies have released new rates, know what is today's latest price in your city?

After increasing the prices several times in the last few weeks, petrol and diesel prices remained stable in the country today, June 5, 2026. Global crude oil prices continue to fluctuate due to geopolitical tensions in West Asia and disruptions in energy supplies due to the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. Meanwhile, market watchers are closely monitoring the possibility of further changes in fuel prices.

City Petrol Price (per litre) Diesel Price (per litre) Delhi Rs 102.12 Rs 95.20 Ghaziabad Rs 101.73 Rs 95.29 Noida Rs 102.42 Rs 95.37 Mumbai Rs 111.21 Rs 97.83 Kolkata Rs 113.51 Rs 100 approx Chennai Rs 107.75 Rs 94.00 Lucknow Rs 101.86 Rs 95.53 Jaipur Rs 113.91 Rs 98.54 Patna Rs 113.77 Rs 100 approx

Why were the prices increased?

The recent increase in fuel prices is mainly due to the rise in international crude oil prices and increasing pressure on state-owned oil marketing companies (OMCs). Industry estimates show that despite price increases several times in May, OMCs are still incurring huge losses – or “under-recovery” – on petrol and diesel sales. Reports suggest that the losses are substantial, leading to speculation that further price increases may be needed to regain profits.

How much have prices increased so far?

Fuel prices have increased rapidly in the last few weeks. Petrol and diesel prices have been increased several times since May 15, resulting in prices rising by nearly ₹7.5 per liter in many cities. Oil companies have made these increases gradually to compensate for the rising costs of purchasing and refining amid the ongoing fluctuations in the energy market.
