The prices of Nenua, Bhindi, Torai, Bitter gourd, Gourd have fallen to Rs 5 in retail markets of villages and towns, while green vegetables are still being sold at Rs 20 to 30 per kg in cities.
The demand for green vegetables has reduced due to the wedding season. The effect of this is that the farmers should leave the cost of their vegetables, they are not even paying the rent for transporting them to the market. On Sunday, Nenua, Bhindi, Torai, Bitter gourd, Gourd were being sold at Rs 5 a kg in Mathauli town of Kushinagar district of Uttar Pradesh. At the same time, parwal was Rs 30 and tomato was Rs 60 per kg.

If we talk about the government data, the retail average price of tomato has jumped 54.74 percent from Rs 26.27 to Rs 41.11 in the last one month. On the other hand, onion has become cheaper by 9.18 percent. According to the latest data given on the website of the Consumer Ministry, onion has come down to Rs 23.94 from an average price of Rs 26.36. Keeping in view the demand for potatoes in wedding ceremonies, it has risen by 7.82 per cent from Rs 21.36 to Rs 23.03 in a month. However, it is priced between Rs 10-20 per kg in most of the retail markets.
