The month of May is going to start from tomorrow, with which many big financial changes will also start (change in rules from May 1). Changes are being made in rules related to everything from LPG cylinder prices to online gaming. Meanwhile, if you are a credit card user of State Bank of India (SBI), please note that the rules related to these cards have also been updated. According to the updated information given on the website of SBI Cards, the limit of charges on outstanding payments is being changed from May 1, 2026, and the rules related to annual fees are also going to change.

Change in annual fee limit*
A period of change will begin for SBI credit card holders from May 1, 2026. If you are an SBI credit card user, then it is very important for you to know about these upcoming changes. Talking about the first change, an update has revealed that now customers will get a rebate in the annual fee only if they spend more than the pre-determined limit.

This special change will be applicable on **SBI BPCL Credit Card**. The bank had issued a notice in this regard on March 29; According to the notice, from May 1, card holders will get exemption in annual fees only when their annual expenditure reaches ₹100,000. It’s worth noting that this card has an annual fee of ₹499—this fee was earlier waived on spends up to ₹50,000—but this spend limit is now being increased. As a result, customers whose annual spend is less than ₹100,000 will have to pay this fee.

Change in late payment fee limit
SBI Cards has not limited the change in its rules only to the annual fee of BPCL Credit Card; It has also changed the slab of late payment charges. According to information shared on sbicard.com, earlier there was no late payment charge on outstanding amounts up to ₹500; But, from May 1, 2026, this discount will be available only on the outstanding amount up to ₹ 100. Now, a late payment charge of ₹100 will be levied on outstanding amounts between ₹100 and ₹500. Additionally, a charge of ₹500 will be levied on outstanding balances between ₹500 and ₹1,000, replacing the earlier charge of ₹400. However, for outstanding amounts above this limit, the fee slabs will remain unchanged: ₹750 for outstanding amounts between ₹1,000 and ₹10,000; ₹950 on balances between ₹10,000 and ₹25,000; ₹1,100 on balances between ₹25,000 and ₹50,000; and ₹1,300 for outstanding balances above ₹50,000.
