On New Year’s Eve, religious and tourist places across the country were buzzing with devotees and tourists. As the first day of 2026 approached, devotees and tourists flocked to religious places, leading to long queues for darshan.
The number of devotees in Kashi and Ayodhya on the occasion of New Year was unprecedented. Devotees have formed almost 2 kilometer long lines for the darshan of Ramlala in Ayodhya and Baba Vishwanath in Kashi. The administration has deployed additional police forces and security officers in view of the security and arrangements.
A huge crowd of devotees was also seen in the Mahakal temple of Ujjain. It is estimated that 10 to 12 lakh devotees will reach the temple on the first day of the new year. Special puja and aarti programs have been organized at the Mahakal temple, and the administration has made special arrangements for crowd management.
Jaisalmer, Rajasthan has seen the highest number of tourists visiting tourist places in the last 10 years. Local administration and tourism department said that this time the number of tourists has reached a record level. Tourists enjoyed visiting historical forts, havelis and deserts.
The number of devotees also increased in Khatushyamji temple located in Sikar district of Rajasthan. Here the administration has kept the arrangements in order and said that the devotees are able to have darshan in about 2 hours. Bhajan-kirtan and special puja programs have also been organized in the temple.
Experts say that on the occasion of New Year, such a huge crowd of devotees at religious places and tourists at tourist places is a symbol of spiritual enthusiasm and increasing interest in tourism in the country. He has appealed to the administration to implement crowd management and security arrangements more strictly.
Security arrangements, ambulance and first aid services have also been made available at all major sites. The administration has also appealed to the visitors to maintain discipline, follow social distancing and avoid any kind of inconvenience in temples and tourist places.
