A tremendous rise was seen in the market in the last trading session of the week. Nifty closed 261 points higher at 24,334, while Sensex closed 964 points higher at 78,151. Today’s rally increased the market capitalization of BSE listed companies by about ₹36,000 crore, taking the total market cap to ₹480.90 lakh crore. The market was trading in the range of 24,000-24,300 for some time, which was broken today.

Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 24 closed in the green mark (up) and 6 closed in the red mark (down). Tech Mahindra was the biggest gainer, rising about 4%. Other gainers included Kotak Mahindra Bank, TCS, Reliance and Hindustan Unilever. Sun Pharma fell the most by 0.88%. Apart from this, gains were also recorded in Trent, Bharti Airtel and UltraTech Cement.
