Stock Market Closing: Market shocked by selling in IT sector, Sensex closes by falling 1048 points, NSE 336

The domestic stock market witnessed a huge fall on Friday due to heavy selling in IT stocks and other global cues. At the end of trading, BSE Sensex fell 1048.16 points to close at 82,626.76. At the same time, NSE Nifty fell by 336.1 points and closed at 25,471.10. Hindalco Industries, Hindustan Unilever, Eternal, Adani Enterprises and ONGC were among the biggest fallers on Nifty. Whereas, Bajaj Finance, Eicher Motors, SBI Life Insurance, State Bank of India and Cipla closed with gains.

All major indexes closed in loss
Sector-wise, almost all the major indices closed with losses. Energy, Metal and Realty indices fell 2-3 per cent each, while IT, Consumer Durables, FMCG, Telecom, Infra, Auto, Power, PSU and Oil & Gas indices fell around 1 per cent each. Heavy selling was also seen in big markets. Nifty Midcap and Smallcap indices declined by about 2 percent, which weakened the index sentiment.
