Today is Friday, June 26. Generally, the stock market is open on Friday; But today you will not be able to buy or sell shares. You’ll have to wait until Monday, June 29 to do this. This is because of Muharram holiday. Due to Muharram, there will be no trading on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) or the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Friday, June 26. Trading will resume on Monday, June 29.
The holiday applies to all major equity segments, including equities, equity derivatives and Securities Lending and Borrowing (SLB). There will be no trading activity on both the exchanges throughout the day. This is the second holiday for the stock market in a month, after the Bakrid holiday in May.
What is Commodity Trading?
Commodity traders should note that the schedule is slightly different. The Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will remain closed in the morning session, but trading will resume in the evening session from 5:00 pm to 11:55 pm. However, the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX) will remain closed for the entire day.
When is the next stock market holiday?
After the Muharram holiday today, the Indian stock market will reopen on Monday, June 29. The next scheduled trading holiday is on September 14, when markets will be closed for Ganesh Chaturthi.
