How many more market holidays will there be this year?
According to the stock market holiday calendar of the National Stock Exchange, a total of 14 stock market holidays were declared in 2025, of which 13 have passed, including the Guru Nanak Jayanti holiday today. There is only one holiday left this year, which will be on Christmas Day next month in December. Yes, there will be no trading in the stock market on 25th December on the occasion of Christmas. There is only one holiday each in the months of November and December.
Earlier, apart from the weekly holiday in the festival month of October, there were three holidays in the stock market. Trading in Sensex and Nifty remained suspended on October 2 on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, while October 21 and 22 were holidays on the occasion of Diwali, Lakshmi Puja and Bali Pratipada. However, special Muhurat trading was organized on the occasion of Diwali.

Compared to Tuesday, both the indices traded with weakness from the beginning to the end of the trading day. Due to negative global cues, Sensex and Nifty made a slow start but gained momentum till market close. At market close, the 30-share Bombay Stock Exchange Sensex fell 519 points or 0.62% to 83,459.15, while the National Stock Exchange’s 50-share Nifty fell 166 points or 0.64% to 25,597.65.
