Stock Market Update: Will Sensex-Nifty open today or remain closed on the occasion of Bhai Dooj? Investors should clear their dilemma here

This year October is the month of festivals, which means there are many holidays. Today, on October 23, many states are celebrating the festivals of Bhai Dooj, Bhai Bij, Chitragupta Puja, Lakshmi Puja (Diwali), Bhatri Dwitiya and Ningol Chakkauba. As a result, schools, colleges, banks and government offices are closed in many states. However, there is no holiday in Maharashtra today. The Indian Stock Exchange is located in Mumbai. Mumbai is in the state of Maharashtra. Therefore, the Indian stock markets (NSE and BSE) will not be closed. This means that Mumbai’s stock exchanges, such as BSE and NSE, will remain open on October 23. Today business will continue as normal.

Stock Market Holidays: Stock Market Holidays in 2025
In 2025, there will be a total of 18 holidays in the Indian stock markets (BSE and NSE), four of which will be on working days. After the October holidays, the stock markets will remain closed for a day each in November and December.

22 October (Wednesday) – Closed due to Balipratipada.
5 November (Wednesday) – Closed due to Prakash Parv (Birthday of Guru Nanak Dev Ji).
25 December (Thursday) – Closed due to Christmas.

Stock Market: Stock Market Opening and Closing Time
The stock market is open every Monday to Friday (except declared holidays). The market remains closed on Saturday and Sunday. Pre-open session takes place (before the market opens). Orders are placed from 9:00 am to 9:08 am. After this order matching and processing begins.

Stock Market: Normal Trading Session
Market opening time: 9:15 am
Market closing time: 3:30 pm
Closing Session: 3:40 PM to 4:00 PM

Stock Market: Block Deal Session
Morning Timings: 8:45 AM to 9:00 AM
Afternoon Time: 2:05 pm to 2:20 pm

If you are an investor or businessman, this information can be very useful for you. However, stock exchanges may also close the market on days other than the holidays mentioned above or open the market on days not originally declared as holidays. The stock exchange may extend, extend or shorten the trading hours whenever it deems appropriate and necessary.
