Sensex opened in the green and then climbed 477 points from its previous close to hit a high of 75,660.17. Similarly, Nifty also climbed nearly 130 points to reach a high of 23,784.75.
At market close on Thursday, May 21, the market capitalization of companies listed on Sensex stood at ₹4,61,53,456.249 crore. Shortly after market opening on Friday, the figure rose to ₹4,63,43,456.93 crore – a profit of ₹1.90 lakh crore.
The previous day – on Thursday – the Sensex had fallen 135.03 points, or 0.18 per cent, to close at 75,183.36. Nifty fell 4.30 points or 0.02 per cent to 23,654.70.
