Will gas cylinder prices increase further?
Meanwhile, people are closely keeping a close eye on possible price movements in the coming period, as global energy markets remain volatile due to the ongoing conflict in Iran. Oil marketing companies usually change LPG prices at the beginning of every month. Therefore—keeping in mind the global market conditions and crude oil prices—May 1 is now the next key date to watch for any potential increase or decrease in prices. According to media reports, on May 1, oil marketing companies may make some changes to the existing 25-day ‘lock-in period’—the mandatory waiting time between booking two LPG cylinders.
Emphasis on OTP-based delivery system
Additionally, an OTP-based delivery system is now expected to be implemented. Officials have said that the purpose of this system is to prevent misuse of subsidized cylinders and to curb incidents of wrong delivery. Under this system, at the time of delivery you have to tell the delivery person a one-time password (OTP) received on your registered mobile number. Without this 4-digit OTP, the delivery will not be considered successful. The main purpose of this step is to verify the identity of the genuine customer—to ensure that the cylinder is actually delivered to the person who booked it.
