According to a Hindustan Times report, India’s exports to China have increased by about 22% in the first half of FY 2025-26 compared to the first half of FY 2025. This includes items including telephone sets, shrimp, aluminum and capsicum.

Shrimp industry suffered huge losses

The US tariffs had a negative impact on India’s shrimp exports. According to global data, air cargo exports from India to the US declined by 14 percent due to tariffs. The shrimp industry of Andhra Pradesh is estimated to suffer a huge loss of about ₹25,000 crore. It has been claimed that 50 percent of orders were canceled due to the tariffs.

Chinese Ambassador to India Shi Feihong shared a post about India-China trade. Expressing his happiness over exports, he wrote, “India’s exports to China have increased by 22 per cent in the first half of FY 2025-26. China will expand its market for premium Indian goods.”
