US President Donald Trump has announced the imposition of 100 percent additional tariffs on all Chinese goods entering the US. These tariffs will be applicable from November 1. Trump has also announced export controls on all critical software manufactured in America. This decision has further escalated the ongoing trade war between America and China. America has already imposed 30 percent tariff on Chinese goods. With the additional 100 percent tariff, the total tariff rate on Chinese imports will reach 130 percent. This new decision of the US administration comes after China announced a large-scale export ban on rare earth minerals from November 1. Rare earth minerals are important elements for technology and manufacturing.
Trump posted on Truth Social about new tariffs on China. The post reads, “Just learned that China has taken a very aggressive stance on trade and sent a very aggressive letter to the world. The letter states that starting November 1, 2025, it will impose comprehensive export controls on almost every product, even some non-Chinese products. This will affect all countries without exception, and it seems that they have planned this years in advance. This has not happened at all in international trade, this is a moral warning to other countries It’s an insult.”
Trump further wrote in the post that given China’s attitude, the United States will impose 100% tariffs on China on or before November 1, 2025, subject to any further actions or changes by China. This will be in addition to any tariff they are currently paying. Additionally, starting November 1, the US will impose export controls on all critical software.
