Abhijeet Deepke, resident of Aurangabad (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar), Maharashtra, had a very good early education. Interested in social and political topics since childhood, Abhijeet, after completing his school education, moved to Pune, the cultural capital of Maharashtra, for higher education. He completed his graduation degree in Journalism from the prestigious institute of Pune. While studying Journalism, he closely observed and understood the principles of media, public communication, political reporting and the functioning of the country’s governance system.
Earned master’s degree from Boston University, America
After obtaining a degree in Journalism from Pune, Abhijeet’s journey did not stop here. He moved to the United States of America to hone his knowledge and skills at the international level. There he enrolled in the College of Communication of the world famous Boston University. Abhijeet received a Masters of Science (MS) degree in Public Relations (PR) from Boston University. While studying in America, he learned how to influence the thinking of common people in the modern era through digital media strategies, messaging and strategic communication.
Experience with political campaigns and digital media
After returning to India after completing his studies in America, Abhijeet started using his knowledge. Between 2020 and 2023, he worked for the social media team of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Apart from this, he served as a Communication Advisor in the Education Department of Delhi Government. He played a key role in designing digital and meme-based campaigns during the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections, which helped him understand how effective the internet can be in connecting the youth.
How did ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP) start?
This whole story started with a joke. In response to a comment made by the Chief Justice on unemployed youth, Abhijeet jokingly wrote on social media, “What would happen if all the cockroaches of the country come together?”
After this he laid the foundation of ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP). Within no time, this digital campaign became so viral that within a few days he got crores of followers on Instagram. What started as an internet satire soon became the biggest platform for millions of students in the country troubled by the NEET-UG exam paper leak.
Students took to the streets with their demands
Abhijeet Deepke united the students against the irregularities in NEET exam and the shortcomings of the National Testing Agency (NTA). Protesting peacefully along with thousands of students at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, they demanded the resignation of the Education Minister and stringent reforms in the examination system.
