Big initiative of Railways for firefighters, new and permanent employment opportunities open after retirement.

There is a big news for millions of youth across the country. Indian Railways has announced new job opportunities for firefighters and ex-servicemen. After completing four years of service, Agniveers will now have less to worry about their future. Railways and Indian Army have together created a new collaboration framework which will provide better job opportunities after retirement.

Indian Railways and Indian Army have jointly started this initiative. Through this collaboration, ex-servicemen and ex-servicemen will be given reservation in government jobs. The first batch of Agniveers is going to complete their four-year tenure this year. This decision is being considered a big relief for them. Earlier, reservation has been announced for Agniveer in Central Armed Police Force and Delhi Police. Now, with Railways getting this facility, another strong option has opened up for the youth.

Which posts will be eligible for reservation?

Railways has said that ex-servicemen and ex-firefighters will be given reservation for Level 1, Level 2 and above posts. This reservation will be applicable throughout the recruitment process. Recruitment will be through a competitive examination conducted by Railway Recruitment Board and Railway Recruitment Centres.

Level-1 Post (Equivalent to Group D Post)

20% reservation for ex-servicemen
10% reservation for X-Fire Warriors

Level-2 and above posts

10% reservation for X-Fire Warriors
5% reservation for X-fire warriors

Over 14,000 posts already reserved

According to the Railway Ministry, 14,788 posts were reserved for ex-servicemen in the recent recruitment cycle. Of these, 6,485 were at Level-1, while 8,303 were at Level-2 and above. This clearly shows that Railways already gives opportunities to ex-servicemen, and now firemen are also being included in this system.

Recruitment for pointsman post soon

Railways is preparing to recruit more than 5,000 ex-servicemen soon. He will be appointed as pointsman on contract basis till the completion of the regular recruitment process. Currently, recruitment is going on for more than 5,000 Level-1 posts at zone and division levels. Nine divisions have already signed agreements with military organizations. This is expected to speed up the recruitment process.
