Big news for CBSE students! Compartment exam schedule released, application form to be filled by July 8

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has started the process for 2026 Class 12 compartment examinations. Along with this, the Board has directed the respective schools to submit the ‘List of Candidates’ (LOC) online for the eligible students. According to the board, schools will have to complete the registration of all eligible students through the ‘Pariksha Sangam’ portal between June 30 and July 8. The board has clearly stated that if a student’s name is not included in the LOC, he/she will not be allowed to appear for the compartment examination.

**Important instructions for schools**

CBSE has directed all schools to log in to the ‘Pariksha Sangam’ portal using their login credentials and submit LOC for eligible students. The board has also clarified that the names of students placed in the ‘compartment’ category must be included in the list, even if the school has not been able to contact them. If a student’s name is omitted from the LOC, he/she will not be given a chance to appear in the examination later. Therefore, schools have been directed to complete the entire process within the stipulated time limit.

**What should compartment students do?**

Students who appeared in the 2026 CBSE Class 12 board exams as regular candidates and were placed in the compartment category will have to contact the same school from where they took the board exams. Their names will be sent by these schools for compartment examination. The board has advised students not to wait for the last date and contact their schools on time.

**Which students are eligible for compartment exam?**

CBSE has also stated the categories of students eligible for this exam: Students declared in compartment category in 2026 board exams who will be appearing in their first compartment exam; Students who have passed the main examination but want to improve their marks; And those students who have passed the 2026 board exam but want to improve their score in a particular subject. Students who appeared in Class 12 examination for the first time in 2025 and want to take the third and last chance for compartment examination can apply only as private candidates. According to the board, students falling in the compartment category are given a maximum of three chances to pass the exam.

**When will compartment exam be held?**

CBSE has announced the date of class 12th compartment exam. This examination will be held on July 28, 2026. CBSE has changed the date of class 12 compartment exam; Earlier this exam was to be held on July 15, but now it will be held on July 28. The date of release of admit card has not been announced yet. The board has said that this information will be announced separately; Also, if any mistake is found in the admit card, schools should immediately contact the concerned regional office.

**What is the fee for compartment exam?**

Application fee for compartment exam has to be deposited online. Candidates can make payment using credit card, debit card, net banking or UPI. According to CBSE, the fees are ₹320 per subject for schools in India, ₹1,100 per subject for schools in Nepal and ₹2,200 per subject for schools located in other countries.
