Ranchi University: Bachelor of Physical Education (BPED), Master of Physical Education (MPed), and Bachelor of Physical Science (BPS) will begin from session 2026 at Ranchi University (RU). The proposal was approved in a meeting chaired by Vice Chancellor Dr. Ajit Kumar Sinha on Friday.
Various committees were formed to start the course, which were entrusted with the responsibility of preparing the playground, identifying the classroom and land, creating DPR (detailed project report) for the new building, and preparing the syllabus. The fee determination work was given to the Sports Department.
Formation of committees, responsibility to professors
It was decided in the meeting that the committees would immediately start correspondence and prepare for the infrastructure. A two -member team of Professor Arun Singh and Dr. Rajesh Gupta were asked to visit various places and provide details of facilities. The syllabus committee will prepare the course, while the sports department will decide the fee structure.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Ajit Sinha, DSW Dr. Sudesh Kumar Sahu, Registrar Dr. Gurcharan Sahu, Deputy Registrar Dr. Pritam Kumar, Sports Co-ordinator Dr. Rajesh Kumar Gupta, Principal Rajkumar Sharma of Doranda College, former DSW PK Verma, and Dr. PC Jha were present in the meeting.
Congratulations to the Vice Chancellor by giving rose flowers
After the decision, players, officials, and representatives of AJSU party congratulated the Vice Chancellor by giving rose flowers. AJSU state president Om Verma said that his party had been demanding these courses for a long time.
He said, “This decision will give a new direction to the players and sports education will be encouraged in Jharkhand.” The congratulators included PTI Raju Sahu, Ramprasad, Shammi Singh, Sivasagar, Tapan Rawat, and Harish Kumar of the colleges.
Sports education in the state will strengthen
BPED (2 years), MPed (2 years), and BPS (3 years) courses will prepare for career in sports training, coaching, and sports science. There is no shortage of sports talents in Jharkhand, but professional training facilities are limited. This step of Ranchi University will strengthen sports education in the state.
In 2024, Ranchi University allocated a budget of ₹ 2 crore to the Sports Department, which led to the development of the sports ground and gymnasium. The new courses will give students opportunities in national and international coaching, sports management, and fitness industry.
