Should only people from one community be considered for the post? this is wrong.
Governor Anusuiya Uikey had further said that in the 14 universities of Chhattisgarh only people from one community have been given the responsibility of the post of Vice Chancellor. People from other communities of the state should also get a chance. In appointments, preference should be given to merit rather than locality.
Chief Minister said – it is not in the interest of Chhattisgarh
Countering this statement of the Governor, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel had said that the Governor is our constitutional head. They should stop doing politics on this issue. Not in the interest of Chhattisgarh. Baghel said that the demands and interests of the local people should be kept in mind.
The delegation had demanded the local Vice Chancellor
However, recently a delegation of IGKV Teachers’ Association met Governor Uike. It is claimed that during that time, the delegation had demanded that a local vice-chancellor be appointed in the university. Whereas, according to a statement issued from the Raj Bhavan, Uike told the delegation that the VC would be selected on merit and without any discrimination as per the rules and act of IGKV. He also reprimanded them for the way the delegation spoke to the media on the issue, the statement said.

Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition and BJP MLA Dharamlal Kaushik hit out at the CM’s statement and said that Congress is constantly trying to defame the state’s premier institutions in this way. Congress state communication cell chief Sushil Anand Shukla said the BJP should clarify its stand on the demand made by the IGKV faculty delegation to appoint a local person as the VC.
