An order has been issued to close schools up to class eight in Patna, the capital of Bihar. Schools closed for a week in Guwahati
Due to severe cold in Guwahati, all schools in Kamrup Metropolitan district of Assam have been closed for a week. IMD has predicted light rain and light to moderate fog in parts of Assam till Thursday morning. “In view of the cold wave, the Kamrup (Metro) district administration has directed all government and other schools to remain closed from December 31, 2025 to January 6, 2026,” the Chief Minister’s Office said in a social media post on Tuesday night.

In view of the continuously increasing cold and fog in the state, and keeping in mind the health and safety of children and staff, holidays have been declared in all government, aided, recognized and private schools in the state till January 7.
Schools closed in Ranchi till 31 January
Due to the continuously increasing cold and cold wave in Jharkhand, all government, non-government and private schools in Ranchi district have been closed from December 27 to December 31. During this period, classes from KG to class 12th will remain suspended.
