The last date for registration for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE 2026) has been extended till 6 October. Students wishing to appear in this exam can complete the application process by visiting the official website of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Guwahati) Gate2026.Iitg.ac.in. The application form can only be filled online; No other form will be accepted.
Delay fee will be payable from 7 October
IIT Guwahati will impose a delay fee on applications starting from October 7. Students will be able to complete the application process with late fee from October 7 to 9, 2025.
Application fee
To appear in this exam, students will have to pay an application fee of ₹ 1,200 for regular periods and ₹ 2,500 for extended period. Additionally, Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes/Divyang candidates will have to pay ₹ 1,000 for regular dates and ₹ 1,500 for extended dates.
Application process
To fill the GATE 2026 application form, first go to the official website gate2026.Iitg.ac.in. Click on the “Application Portal” on the home page of the website. Next, click on the registration link and fill the required details and register. After registration, fill the form by filling other details. The prescribed fee will have to be paid. Finally, submit the filled form and keep it safe with a printout.
Eligibility and criteria
Students who are in the third year or above of the Bachelor’s Degree Program or who have obtained a government degree in engineering/technology/architecture/science/art/humanities are eligible to appear in the GATE 2026 exam.
Examination will be held on these dates
The dates of the GATE 2026 exam have already been announced. Examination for students applying will be held on 7, 8, 14 and 15 February 2026.
