National Medical Commission i.e. National Medical Commission has removed the upper age limit prescribed for students appearing for NEET UG (NEET-UG 2022) exam. As per the notification of NMC, the relaxation of upper age limit will be applicable from the same year i.e. NEET UG 2022 only.
In the notification issued by the NMC, it was said that in the fourth meeting of the National Medical Commission held on October 21, 2021, it was decided that there should be no upper age limit for the candidates to apply for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test i.e. NEET undergraduate. There should be no compulsion. Therefore, the Regulations on Graduate Medical Education 1997 have been amended.
Changes will go into effect this year
The change in age relaxation will also be applicable for applying for NEET UG 2022 exam in the same year. For this, changes will also be made in the information booklet of NEET UG 2022. As of now the maximum age to apply for NEET UG is 25 years. That is, candidates above 25 years of age were not eligible to apply. But now the removal of the upper age limit has brought a big relief to the students.
Ford India welcomes the decision
On behalf of FORDA i.e. Federation of Resident Doctors Association, India has thanked the National Medical Commission (NMC) for welcoming this decision. Dr Manish, President, Ford India has welcomed the decision to do away with the upper age limit of 25 years for NEET UG. Dr Manish said that there is already a shortage of doctors in the country. This move will increase the number of applicants applying for medical education. As a result of which we will be able to get more doctors.
