The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released an update regarding fee refunds for lakhs of students appearing for the NEET UG 2026 exam. The agency has said that the process of refund has started for the candidates whose bank account verification has been completed. At the same time, those candidates who have not yet updated their bank details or whose information has mistakes, have been given the last chance to correct it today. According to NTA, candidates who are not able to update their bank details within the stipulated time limit may find it difficult to get a refund.
**Refund is being sent to verified bank account**
NTA has clarified that fee refund is being sent to the bank accounts of only those candidates whose details have been successfully verified on the portal. Candidates whose account information is already correct need not take any further action; The refund amount is being transferred to their account in a phased manner. The agency has also advised candidates with incomplete, incorrect or unverified bank details to update their information to avoid any delay in the refund process.
**Last date for updating bank details**
NTA has given last chance to update bank account information. Candidates can visit the official website to correct their bank details till 11:50 pm tonight (7th July). After this, the correction window will close and the refund process will proceed based on the available bank details only. The agency has made it clear that after the deadline, no other opportunity will be given to change the bank account information.
**Till now only 8.29 lakh candidates have updated their information**
According to NTA, till now 8,29,510 candidates have updated their bank account details, while more than 22 lakh candidates had appeared for the NEET UG 2026 exam. This means that there are still a large number of candidates who have not updated the required bank details for refund. The agency has requested all the candidates to complete this process as soon as possible so that the refund can be issued without any hassle.
How to update bank details?
To update their bank information, candidates should first visit the official website of NEET UG: neet.nta.nic.in.
After this, click on the link “Last chance to confirm/update bank account details for NEET 2026 fee refund” present on the home page. Log in using your application number.
Next, go to the dashboard and enter your bank account information.
Verify all the information carefully including account number, account holder name and IFSC code.
Once the information is correct, submit it and download the confirmation page for your record.
