National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) Chairman Prof. Saroj Sharma said on Thursday that NIOS has prepared many courses with the aim of incorporating the Indian knowledge tradition in education. Along with this, courses of Indian knowledge tradition have been started at all three levels of open basic education. He said that Indian knowledge tradition has always been paramount. Vedas, Puranas, epistemology have been our guides. He said this in a seminar organized by NIOS and Vidya Bharati Institute of Higher Education.
Two Day National Seminar on “Inclusion of Indian Knowledge System in Mainstream Education: Mandate of NEP 2020” under the joint aegis of NIOS and Vidya Bharati Institute of Higher Education (“Assimilating Indian Knowledge System in Mainstream Education: Mandate of NEP 2020”) It is being organized on May 5-6, 2022 at Kalyan Singh Auditorium, Noida, NIOS.
During the program a special issue of NIOS News Bulletin based on Indian Knowledge Tradition and National Education Policy was released.
Vidya Bharati’s National Organization Minister Govind Mohanta said that Indian knowledge tradition should be spread on the basis of National Education Policy 2020. As citizens we should aim to have a fixed medium of education. We have to make serious efforts to take the Indian knowledge tradition to the classroom.
Dr. Rajiv Kumar Singh, Director (Educational) of NIOS assured that NIOS will make meaningful efforts in this direction.
