Only 39 permanent posts in NTA, income increases so much every year; Minister of State for Education gave information in Rajya Sabha, Career Hindi News

Since its inception in 2018, NTA has successfully conducted more than 270 examinations. More than 6.6 crore candidates have registered for these examinations.

At present there are a total of 39 permanent posts in the National Testing Agency (NTA), working under the Ministry of Education. This information was given by Union Minister of State for Education, Dr. Sukant Majumdar in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha. He said that appointment to these 39 permanent posts is done through deputation. Apart from this, NTA also recruits officers and staff for short term as per the need. Dr. Majumdar said that 16 new posts have also been created to strengthen the efficiency of NTA. These include 8 Director level and 8 Joint Director level posts. These posts will be filled under the Central Staffing Scheme.

He also informed that the National Testing Agency (NTA) was established as an autonomous and self-reliant institution. Its objective is to conduct entrance examinations for admission and fellowship in higher education institutions (HEIs) in the country.

How many permanent employees are there on which posts in NTA?

In a written reply given in Rajya Sabha, Union Minister of State for Education, Dr. Sukant Majumdar said that the details of 39 permanent posts in NTA are as follows –

Director General (Level-17) – 1 Post

Joint Secretary (Level-15) – 2 Posts

Director (Level-14) – 1 Post

Director (Level-13) – 7 Posts

Joint Director and Research Scientist (Level-12) – 6 Posts (5 Joint Directors and 1 Research Scientist)

Deputy Director (Level-11) – 3 Posts

Assistant Director (Level-10) – 2 Posts

Senior Superintendent (Level-7) – 2 Posts

73 contract and 124 outsourced employees also deployed

Dr. Majumdar said that apart from permanent employees, NTA also appoints contract and outsourced employees as per the need.

At present 73 contractual employees are working in NTA. In these-

1 General Manager (Communication)

1 Senior Advisor

5 Senior Consultant

44 consultant

1 Senior Software Developer

1 office assistant

17 young professionals are included.

Apart from this, 124 outsourced employees are also performing various responsibilities. These include data analysts, consultants, junior consultants, legal associates, housekeeping staff and other employees.

Help of thousands of officials is taken during examinations

In a report published in Times Now, quoting Dr. Mazumdar, it has been told that according to the type and requirement of the examination, NTA also takes the services of Observers, City Coordinators, Center Superintendents, State Level Coordination Committee (SLCC) and District Level Coordination Committee (DLCC) members across the country. They are appointed for the examination period in collaboration with state governments, union territories, centrally funded higher educational institutions, government institutions like Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya and Kendriya Vidyalaya.

NTA’s income increased every year

The Minister of State for Education also shared the details of income and expenditure of NTA. According to him-

2019-20- Rs 504.16 crore – Rs 440.20 crore

2020-21- Rs 515.16 crore – Rs 436.25 crore

2021-22- Rs 508.47 crore – Rs 426.52 crore

2022-23- Rs 900.56 crore- Rs 681.52 crore

2023-24 – Rs 1,116.84 crore – Rs 1,040.96 crore

NTA has conducted more than 270 examinations since 2018.

Dr. Sukant Majumdar said that since its establishment in 2018, NTA has successfully conducted more than 270 examinations. More than 6.6 crore candidates have registered for these examinations. At the same time, till now NTA has conducted 12 examinations in 2026, in which more than 65 lakh candidates have registered.
