'Result in 5 minutes...' Karnataka University made a unique record, the result came after some time as soon as the examination was over.

Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) of Karnataka created a new record on Tuesday. The university declared the results of the sixth semester of Bachelor of Engineering (BE) and Bachelor of Technology (BTech) examinations just five minutes after the last exams were over.

VTU Vice Chancellor Prof. S. Vidyashankar and Registrar (Evaluation) Prof. U.J. Ujjwal jointly declared the results. A total of 60,856 students appeared for the examinations from across the state and the overall pass percentage stood at 76.84%.

The last practical examination ended at 5:30 am on Tuesday and the university declared the full results online at 5:35 pm. As a result, the entire evaluation process was completed 21 days earlier than the previous academic year.

Explaining how the university was able to evaluate the answer sheets of thousands of engineering students in a matter of minutes, VTU officials said the secret lay in digital integration and strategic scheduling.

Theory Phase: The theory examinations of the sixth semester were conducted from 18 May to 17 June. VTU uses a completely digital assessment system; Therefore, all the theory papers were scanned, evaluated online by professors and the marks were locked in the central software of the university.

Practical Phase: The final phase consisted of practical examinations, which were held from June 18 to June 30. Internal and external examiners were instructed to directly enter the marks of practicals and vivas in the secure VTU digital portal immediately after the completion of each student’s lab examination on Tuesday.

At around 5:30 pm, the software combined the existing theory data with the newly submitted practical marks and generated the final marksheet in five minutes.

Vice Chancellor Vidya Shankar said, “Students eagerly wait for their results as it directly impacts their higher education and placement timelines.”

“Through careful planning and adequate digital preparation, we were successful in declaring the results so quickly. I thank the entire administrative staff of VTU, the examination department and the faculty members of our affiliated colleges who worked tirelessly to make this possible.” Registrar (Evaluation) Prof. U.J. Ujjwal said, “We adopted digital assessment and prepared to declare the results early. All this was possible only with everyone’s cooperation.”
