New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Monday that the Union Budget for 2022-23 will play an important role in implementing the National Education Policy at the grassroots level. The Prime Minister, while addressing a webinar on the topic ‘Positive Impact of Union Budget 2022-23’, said that the problem of ‘seats’ in educational institutions of the country can be solved with the establishment of ‘National Digital University’.
Modi said that the budget focuses on the universalization of five aspects of the education sector – quality education, skill development, urban planning and design, internationalization and AVGC (Animation Visual Effects Gaming Comic). He said, “Digital connectivity has kept our education system alive in this time of global pandemic.” Innovation is ensuring inclusion for us.” The ‘digital divide’ is an economic and social disparity with respect to the use and impact of information and communication technologies (ICTs).
He said, “Digital University is an innovative and unprecedented step, which has the potential to completely solve the problem of seats in universities. I appeal to the Ministry of Education, University Grants Commission (UGC), All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and all stakeholders of ‘Digital University’ to work expeditiously on the project. Educational infrastructure like Vidya, One Class One Channel, Digital Lab, Digital University will be of great help to the youth.
He said that the budget of 2022-23 will help a lot in implementing the National Education Policy at the grassroots level. Referring to the announcement of setting up of a ‘digital university’ in the budget to provide access to students across the country, Modi said it is a unique and unprecedented step of its kind. “I see the power in a ‘digital university’ which can completely eliminate the problem of ‘seat’ in educational institutions in our country,” Modi said.
On ‘International Mother Language Day’ on Monday, he said that education in mother tongue is related to the mental development of children. He said that medical and technical education has been started in many states in local languages. Modi said, “In many states, medical and technical education is also being imparted in local languages. Must have the speed to create best content in digital format in local Indian languages. Such material should be available through internet, mobile phones, TV and radio.” He reiterated the need to continue the work with respect to content in sign languages on priority basis. The Prime Minister said, “It is important for a self-reliant India to provide skills in a dynamic manner in view of the global talent demand.”
