The Uttar Pradesh government has taken a big decision to promote higher education of women. Rani Laxmibai Scooty Scheme has been approved in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

To increase the participation of girl students in education, the Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh is running many schemes. Rani Laxmibai Scooty Scheme has now been included in one of these schemes. Actually, the Uttar Pradesh government has taken a big decision to promote higher education of women. Rani Lakshmibai Scooty Scheme has been approved in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Under this scheme, meritorious girl students studying in Undergraduate (UG) will be given free scooty, so that they do not face any problem in commuting to college and they can easily continue their studies.

50 thousand girl students will get benefits in the first year

About 50,000 girl students are expected to benefit from this scheme in the first year. The aim of the government is to remove the transportation problems faced by girl students and encourage them to pursue higher education. This information has been given by Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay.

Which girl students will get the benefit of the scheme?

Let us tell you that the benefit of Rani Laxmibai Scooty Scheme will be available to the girl students studying in state and private universities, government colleges affiliated to state universities, aided institutions and self-finance colleges. Eligibility for the scheme will be decided on the basis of academic performance. The benefit of this scheme will be given to the top 5% meritorious undergraduate (UG) students of each institute passing the examination in the academic session 2025-26. This will help the talented girl students of the state to continue higher education.

To avail the benefits of Rani Lakshmibai Scooty Scheme, the annual income of the applicant’s family should not exceed Rs 12 lakh. Along with this, it will also be mandatory for the beneficiary to have a valid driving license. However, daughters of martyrs, girl students from destitute families and disabled students will be eligible to avail the benefits of this scheme even if the merit condition is not fulfilled.

Under the scheme, the government will not only provide free scooters, but will also bear the entire cost of registration and insurance of the vehicle.

Apart from this, each beneficiary student will also be given a helmet, necessary scooter accessories and 5 liters of petrol free of cost.

How will the scooty be?

Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay said that the government has decided to provide petrol-powered scooties. The reason for this is that petrol pumps and service centers are easily available in Uttar Pradesh, due to which the girl students will not face any problem in maintenance. The scooters will be purchased on a special portal through a transparent online procurement process.

The government believes that with this scheme, the journey to and from college will be more safe and convenient for girl students. This will increase participation of girls in higher education, promote their self-reliance and also strengthen women empowerment.
