Malayalam superstar Mohanlal dedicated India’s highest cinematic honor Dadasaheb Phalke Award to Indian cinema and its audience, saying, “Today there is no limit to cinema – it has become all -India.”
A day after 2023, a day after being nominated as the recipient of the country’s highest honor in the cinema field, the actor remembered that when he received a call to inform the prize from the Prime Minister’s Office, he did not believe it.
Mohanlal said at a press conference in Kochi on Sunday, “I felt that this is a strange dream. I also asked him to repeat it.”
The superstar credited this honor for the collective efforts of the film industry and the unwavering support of the audience throughout his career.
Mohanlal said, “This is not just my award – this is the honor of Indian cinema. I thank God for this honor. Any work should be done with honesty and dedication, and many people helped me during this time. I share this honor with them all.”
He described the region as his God in which he works.
The actor said, “Therefore I say this award is God. There is honesty in the work we do. I share this award with everyone. I am not a person walking on my shoulders on my shoulders; this moment is memorable.”
Mohanlal, who has completed 48 years in films, said that he is lucky that he got a chance to work with some of the greatest names of the industry and he is blessed with this honor.
He also refreshed the memory of sharing this news by meeting his ailing mother on Sunday morning. Mohanlal said, “He blessed me after hearing this news. He has only his prayers behind this award.”
Mohanlal, who started shooting for Drishyam 3 from Monday, admitted that initially he found it difficult to believe in the announcement.
Describing cinema as both “magic” and “circus”, which he has been a part for about five decades, the actor emphasized the need for good films. He said, “I will be a part of that collective effort.”
Mohanlal cut the cake with his colleagues and made the opportunity memorable, and his friends and well -wishers gathered to congratulate him.
On reaching Kerala for the first time after the announcement of the prestigious award, Mohanlal told reporters at Kochi Airport that he dedicated the honor to the film industry.
He smiled and said, “I wish that even more good things come to the industry and I hope this honor will inspire the new generation.”
Emotionally, Mohanlal thanked God, audience, his parents and the country. He said, “It’s very happy. I am grateful to all those who have been part of my journey.”
Recalling his 48 -year career, Mohanlal said, “I remember all those who go with me and send my love and prayers for him on the occasion.”
He credited the audience and the Malayalam film industry that whatever he has today, he has created.
