This time the 71st National Film Awards were announced, then the debate got entangled in the best actor Shah Rukh Khan. This suppressed the discussion of actor Vikrant Masi, who was sharing in the same category. Urvashi, who received the Best Supporting Actress Award for Ullozhukku, increased the north-south gap, saying that the regional language had been ignored. Jackfruit won the award for the best Hindi category film. Akanksha Pare Kashiv talked about the award of politics, media, police and society’s layers through humor, Ashok Mishra. Part:
The subject of jackfruit is different, how did you think about it?
The film’s director and my son Yashovardhan Mishra had read the news that two jackfruit were stolen from an MP’s house. They told me that police have been deployed to find jackfruit. I liked the story and we went to Bundelkhand to do research on it. We found a young inspector girl in Chhatarpur. We have started the film with the story he told us.
You also wrote screen play?
Usually, all the screen plays I have written so far have written alone. This is the first time that both I and Yashovardhan have written it together.
Why did the idea of telling the story through satire?
One can say deeply to a deeper thing in satire. Satire is also my genre. I have also written Well Don Abba, Welcome to Sajjanpur.
Nowadays, humor has reached very close to the slutness. How do you survive this?
It is true that nowadays the slutness is above humor. Laughing people in a civilized way is becoming a really challenge. Slutter is easy, so an easy method is adopted. I try to hurt the system through humor. For example, there is a Dalit atrocities in the Summer film. There was a serious topic, but I made a screen play so that people laugh and laugh. If there is a lot of laughter in films, then there is relief to immersed in despair.
How was the experience of working with son?
Many times nice to talk whenever you want. Tuning will be good. There were many differences. But when you do creative work, it is necessary to listen to another’s idea and add it. He had to do the work of fully directed, so his eyesight to see the story was completely different. I consider cinema as a traditional means and according to that it was working on the script, but Yashovardhana put a modern temper.
The story is different in the eyes of the camera, did some changes on the spot?
The artists took the story exactly the same as the script.
The heroine’s name is woman Basore, any special purpose behind showing her Dalit?
Did this for new dimensions in the story. The discussion about Dalits should get some strength. No extra hard work was to be done to show class division.
There is also an investigative journalist in the film, why was it needed?
The reason is very fun. We went to Mahoba. There we found a local journalist named Anuj. That also revealed the distance between urban and rural journalists. In the film, we did not change his name.
Casting also played a big role in raising the story?
Very much, because the same people brought reality in the film. All the actors acted well. Whether it is Sanya Malhotra, Vijay Raj, Rajpal Yadav, Anant Joshi. If acting is not good, the story dies on screen. The ability of the actors took the story in a different direction.
What are you doing new?
Working on a script. A script is writing Yashovardhan and his wife Niyati Joshi. There are two or three things in the pipeline. If I am not writing anything, I start writing the drama. I like the story of marginal people because no one is telling the story of small people. Right now I have written a drama called Khadus, which is the story of a tailor.
Getting the award makes things easier?
Absolutely. People start recognizing you. It is easy to get an appointment. But the path of creativity is not easy at all. It is a major achievement for Yashovardhan that his first film received the National Award. Although it was very difficult for me. When I received the National Award, the one who used to do in small work was closed, because people started feeling that now I will ask for more money.
What is the benefit of OTT?
The value of the writer has increased with the arrival of OTT. Professionism has increased. Money has started getting on time.
