On Sunday, February 6, 2022, Lata didi breathed her last at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. Lata Mangeshkar was corona infected in the past, since then she was undergoing treatment. However, even after the corona report came negative, her condition could not improve and she said goodbye to the world. Lata Mangeshkar was an asset to the film industry and her immense contribution to playback singing will remain in our hearts for eternity.

In 1984, the Government of Madhya Pradesh introduced a national level award to honor musicians for their contribution to Indian music. In an effort to recognize her efforts to uplift Indian music, the award was named after Lata Mangeshkar. Several music maestro have been recipients of this award in the past, such as Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhosle. In recent times, singers Suman Kalyanpur, and Kuldeep Singh were honored with the Lata Mangeshkar Award in 2020. This award was also instituted in 1992 by the Government of Maharashtra. Apart from this, Lata Mangeshkar also got 250 trophies and 150 gold medals in her lifetime.
