‘Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE)’ has objected to the casting of Diljit Dosanjh in ‘Border 2’.
This protest is taking place due to the controversy over his film ‘Sardaar Ji 3’, in which Pakistani actress Hania Aamir has acted.
The controversy started when Diljit Dosanjh shared the trailer of his film ‘Sardaar Ji 3’ on social media this week, after which many people on social media demanded boycott of Diljit Dosanjh. The film will be released only overseas on June 27.
In a letter sent to the makers of ‘Border 2’ on Tuesday evening, FWICE said it was deeply disappointed and concerned over Dosanjh’s casting in the film.
The letter read, ‘The decision to select actors for the roles in the film is in direct violation of FWICE’s official directive to boycott actor Diljit Dosanjh for the anti-national act of working with Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in ‘Sardaar Zee 3’.
It said, “By working with an artiste who has openly ignored the current tensions and national sentiment in the country, your film has weakened the Indian film industry’s stance of standing united with the country.”
‘Border 2’ is being produced by Jaypee Films and T-Series. Diljit Dosanjh was associated with this film, which is coming as a sequel to the 1997 film ‘Border’, in September 2023. Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan and Ahan Shetty will also be seen in lead roles in the film.
