Calling Gulzar a human being, his personality has to be limited. Gulzar is like air, which no border can tie. It is impossible to become a Gulzar. When God is deed, a Gulzar comes into existence in centuries. Gulzar is the child of God, whom God has sent to the world by giving his pen. It is difficult for a person to create such hypnosis with words.
Gulzar was born on 18 August 1934 in Dina, an area of current Pakistan. When Gulzar took care of his senses, the partition of India was looking at him. The incident of partition was so terrible that Gulzar often woke up from sleep. He used to have scary dreams. Gulzar saw the scene in his sleep, when the human body burnt alive from the road was scrapped and then filled with a car and their last action. The effect of this pain, this dreadful event is very felt in the artistic expression of Gulzar. Gulzar was very fond of books. He used to teach with affairs and poems with hobbies. In his father’s eyes, this would have been a wasteful work. He always instructed Gulzar to stay away from poetry.
Gulzar, who came to India with his family, wanted to save his life after partition. But the economic crisis of the house was not allowing it. Gulzar had to go to Mumbai to his elder brother. Gulzar started work in the motor garage in Mumbai. Gulzar dyed the vehicles that had an accident. In this work, Gulzar would also get time to read and write and his expenses would also go on. Gulzar was part of the liked Tehreek. Sardar Jafri, Krishna Chander, Rajendra Singh Bedi were stepping into the world of Gulzar Adab. He wished to write books as a writer. But his friend and great lyricist of Hindi cinema Shailendra asked him to write film songs. Shailendra was writing songs from Bimal Roy’s film Bandini but he left the film due to a debate with composer Sachin Dev Burman. He then asked Gulzar to go to Bimal Roy. Gulzar went to Bimal Roy and wrote a song that became a proof that Gulzar is not a common and superficial thing. Gulzar wrote “Mora Gora Ang Lai Le” and told that in the society where people are crazy for white color, the heroine is ready to abandon that white color to meet the beloved.
Gulzar had a intimate relationship with Bimal Roy. Seeing Gulzar’s talent, Bimal Roy did not let him work in the motor garage. Bimal Roy kept Gulzar his assistant. This belonging of Bimal Roy spilled tears in Gulzar’s eyes. Gulzar acted in Bimal Roy’s films. From the script’s dialogue reform to the cooperation in the film construction, Gulzar gave it. Bimal Roy was a father -in -law for Gulzar. Gulzar served Bimal Roy till the last time. When Gulzar went out of the struggle, his father died. The family members felt that Gulzar had moved towards his destination with great suffering. So he did not inform Gulzar about his father’s death. By the time Gulzar reached Gulzar, the father’s funeral was completed by the other medium. Gulzar got pierced like a thorn in the service of the father’s service and not being able to see the last darshan. In the last days of life, when Bimal Roy fell ill, Gulzar served him like a son. On the death of Bimal Roy, Gulzar played his duty like a son. In this way, the thorn stuck in Gulzar’s mind came out.
Gulzar wrote a lot of love in his songs. But an incompleteness is also felt in these songs of these Gulzar. The loneliness of love appears. In this context, Gulzar says that in songs he expresses his pain, his lonely, his deficiency. They do not try to make anyone cry, but they cry themselves while writing songs. Gulzar held Rakhi’s hand when Rakhi was disappointed with her married life and was looking for a partner of loneliness. But Gulzar and Rakhi did not work too much. In Gulzar and Rakhi’s Bagiya, a flower named Meghna was fed and then the ways were separated. Both of them never touched a mud on a couple. Even today, both meet with love and Khulus. Gulzar misses a fish made by Rakhi’s hand. Bengal, love to Tagore, takes him closer to Rakhi.
Gulzar had a big Yarana with RD Burman. Both of them conferred Hindi cinema with the gift of best song music. Gulzar and RD Burman had a disinterested belongingness in the relationship. This is the reason that for the film Anthi, Gulzar asked RD Burman to tune his hymn and wrote on it, “There is no shikwa from your life”. This song of Gulzar creates such a tightness that the desire arises in the mind that someone hugs tightly.
While writing the dialogues of a film like Gulzar Anand, while advocating Jindadili, the song of the innocent also introduces his generous heart by writing “Tujhse Nahin Jeevan”. When Gulzar makes a “effort”, it says that even today the words are unable to say which is called silence. Gulzar makes “grapes” and offer a sample of their sense of humor.
Gulzar has been very impressed with Ghalib. Ghalib and Bimal Roy meet in their personality. When Gulzar writes something by taking inspiration from Ghalib’s lion, he does not hide the happiness of his face. Gulzar wanted him to make a film on Ghalib. He also planned it with Sanjeev Kumar. But due to the untimely death of Sanjeev Kumar, the film was not made on Ghalib. When Indira Gandhi enriched Doordarshan, it reached house to house across the country. This is attracted to the elder producer director Doordarshan. There was also a Gulzar in these, who fulfilled his dream by making a Ghalib TV serial with Naseeruddin Shah for Doordarshan. Gulzar continued to consider himself as a khadim of Ghalib’s mansion.
Gulzar’s poetry is beyond time. This day goes on day more young and deeper. Gulzar still writes songs. He sees the same relationship with Vishal Bhardwaj, which was between Bimal Roy and among them.
