'Son of Sardar' actor Mukul Dev, died at the age of 54

Actor Mukul Dev, who proved his acting prowess in many films including ‘Son of Sardar’, ‘R…Rajkumar’, ‘Jai Ho’, died on Friday night. He was 54 years old. On Saturday, his friends reached his house after hearing the news of his demise. Details regarding how the actor died are not yet available.

Mukul Dev’s close friend Deepshikha Nagpal confirmed the news of the actor’s demise on social media. He posted an old picture of himself with Mukul Dev on Instagram story, in which he wrote, “RIP”, while fans and many celebs have been shocked by the news of the actor’s demise.

Manoj Bajpayee is shocked to know the news of Mukul Dev’s demise. Expressing grief over the actor’s death, he posted on social media and wrote, “It is impossible to put into words what I am feeling. Mukul was like a brother, an artist whose warmth and passion were unmatched. Gone too soon, too young. I pray for strength and health for his family and all those saddened by this loss. Miss you my love…until we meet again, Om Shanti.”

Mukal Dev was last seen in the Hindi film ‘Ant The End’. He was the brother of actor Rahul Dev. Mukul Dev was born in New Delhi into a Punjabi family with roots in a village near Jalandhar. His father Hari Dev was Assistant Commissioner of Police and it was he who introduced him to Afghan culture. His father could speak Pashto and Persian.

When Mukul and Sushmita debuted together

Mukal Dev entered the world of acting in 1996 with the television serial ‘Mumkin’, in which he played the role of Vijay Pandey. He also acted in Doordarshan’s comedy Bollywood countdown show ‘Ek Se Badh Kar Ek’. He was also the host of ‘Fear Factor India’ Season 1. He started his journey in films with ‘Dastak’, in which he played the role of ACP Rohit Malhotra. Before this film, Miss Universe Sushmita Sen also debuted.

In 1996, both Mukul Dev and Sushmita Sen made their Bollywood debut with the film ‘Dastak’ directed by Mahesh Bhatt. In the film, Mukul played the role of a police officer and Sushmita played the role of Miss Universe. Even though the film was not a big hit at the box office, songs like ‘Jaadu Bhari Aankhon Wali Suno’ brought Mukul into the audience’s attention.
