Neeraj Pandey’s upcoming Netflix Crime thriller, the presence of cricket icon Sourav Ganguly in a promotional advertising shoot for ‘Khaki: The Bengal Chapter’, has given rise to speculation about his possible role in the series, although its manufacturer has not committed any commitment.
Asked if Ganguly would be in a guest role in this series, Pandey was surprised first, then he laughed and said, “As far as Sourav is concerned … Well, keep watching.”
Although Pandey did not explain this in detail, a source associated with the production unit told PTI that there is no update about starting acting in Ganguly’s series at the moment, not even on cameo.
“He appeared in a promotional video shot in Baruipur,” the source said.
During the shooting, the pictures of Ganguly in police uniform have become very viral on social media. The upcoming thriller is based on the background of Kolkata in the early 2000s, where an IPS officer confronts the city’s crime syndicate and highlights its dark aspects.
Promotion videos will be released before the series premiere on OTT.
Ready to stream on 20 March, ‘Khaki: The Bengal Chapter’ is the second installment of Pandey’s Khaki series, after ‘Khaki: The Bihar Chapter’, which premiered on OTT in 2022.
Directed by Debatma Mandal and Tushar Kanti Roy, the series is a team of influential artists, including Zeenat as IPS officer Arjun Maitra, Prosonjit Chatterjee as politician Barun Roy, as well as Parambrata Chatterjee, Saswata Chatterjee and Chitrangada Singh.
