Amravati, July 25 (IANS). Once again an increase in the cases of corona infection has been recorded in Andhra Pradesh. On Saturday, 10 new infected patients were confirmed in the state, after which the total number of active cases has increased to 49. In view of the increasing cases, the Health Department has given instructions to further strengthen monitoring and health systems in all the districts.
According to the bulletin issued by the Health Department on Saturday evening, the maximum number of new cases, three patients, have been found in Guntur district. Apart from this, two new cases have been reported in NTR district, while one new infected patient each has been found in Alluri Sitaram Raju, Eluru, Krishna, Tirupati and Visakhapatnam districts. The department said that till now a total of 302 people have been tested for Covid-19.
If we look at the cases registered so far in the state, East Godavari district is the most affected, where 11 cases have been reported. After this, 9 cases have been registered in Guntur, 8 in YSR Kadapa, 5 in Visakhapatnam and 3 in NTR district. Two cases each have been found in Kakinada, Eluru and Bapatla districts, while one infected patient each has been confirmed in several other districts.
According to the Health Department, currently 24 Covid-19 patients are undergoing treatment in various hospitals. At the same time, 16 patients are undergoing treatment in home isolation under medical supervision. Till now, five patients have completely recovered and have been discharged from the hospital. These include three patients from YSR Cuddapah district and one each from Guntur and Eluru districts.
So far, four deaths have been recorded due to Covid-19 in the state. Of these, three deaths occurred in YSR Cuddapah district and one in Kakinada district.
In view of the increasing cases, the Health Department has further tightened the surveillance system in the entire state. District Rapid Response Teams have been instructed to continuously monitor the health condition of the infected patients and take necessary steps by identifying the people who came in contact with them.
The department said that RT-PCR testing kits have been made available in designated laboratories for testing suspected patients. Also, special beds have been arranged for Covid-19 patients in all secondary and tertiary level hospitals. Adequate stock of medicines, personal protective equipment (PPE), testing kits and other essential medical supplies has also been ensured.
